Dual Credit

DUAL CREDIT / CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT

The Dual Credit Program at BHS allows students to enroll in college-level courses and earn college credit while in high school. Certain college credit courses can also earn a student high school credit and meet requirements for graduation. In order to qualify for dual credit courses a student must take and pass the TSI.

FIRST STEP – TSI PRE-ASSESSMENT

TSI PRE-ASSESSMENT INSTRUCTIONS

The pre-assessment is required before taking the TSI.

It can be done at school or at home, but a certificate of completion must be turned in before the TSI can be administered.

- Scroll to the middle of the page and click on the link titled “Click here for Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA)”

TSI is composed of three main parts

  2. Writing (Multiple Choice and Essay)
  3. Mathematics (Multiple Choice)

SECOND STEP – Take TSI and apply to SPC

Sign up with the BHS counseling center to take the TSI

AND

Apply to South Plains College at ApplyTexas

**You must create an account through ApplyTexas and then apply to SPC. Creating an account alone does not automatically mean an application to SPC has been completed. See counselor if you have questions.

THIRD STEP – See BHS Counselor for Registration/Classes

From the South Plains College Website, "South Plains College has identified a number of courses which may be taken for dual credit. Dual Credit students take core courses commonly required for any bachelor's degree program at most universities. Academic credit received at South Plains College is fully transferable to Texas public universities.”

Dual Credit Student Handbook can be found at http://www.southplainscollege.edu/admission-aid/apply/dualcredit/dualcredit.php
